Solar Warranty Question
Last updated
Solar coverage comes in layers: the product, the power output, and the work. The labor to fix a problem is the layer most often missing from the maker warranty.
The product warranty covers defects in the equipment and typically runs at least 10 to 12 years. The performance warranty guarantees a minimum output over time, often at least 90 percent at 10 years and 80 percent at 25 (EnergySage on solar panel warranties).
Most manufacturers do not reimburse the labor to repair or replace their products. That is normally handled by the installer's own workmanship warranty, so find that document too.
Gather your contract, your equipment list, your permit, and any monitoring login. If you are unsure which layer applies, the manufacturer's support line and your contract are the two places to start. A local company can also read the paperwork with you.
